Take note of the enemy/boss and you’ll see it will continue flashing, but when that flashing stops you can un-pause the game again (exit the weapon menu) to cause more damage with the same hit! You can do this over and over again. Use a weapon that goes through an enemy, and as your fired shot makes contact with the enemy/boss pause the game by bringing up the weapon menu.
